My best description would be sort of a blend of early industrial experimentation and modern illbient/IDM... I don't know, it's dark, noisy, and has an ambient feel. You can listen to some songs and find the download link at www.myspace.com/teenanalterrorist. The album's being distributed on a donation basis, so if you're completely destitute, don't worry. But, since we believe that people making a living doing what they love is a good thing, donations are encouraged. So if you find some form of enjoyment from the music, please give what you can.

I am happy to announce that my new solo album has been released by the US label "New Albion"!

Here is the link about the album at New Albion's web site : www.newalbion.com/NA131

During the making of this album, Ovation Custom Legend 1869 acoustic guitar, TC Electronic Fireworx multi effects processor, Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller and the software Audiomulch were used.

If you are interested in acoustic guitar, ambient and electroacoustic music and the use of live electronics, feel free to check out the album!
techniques at the Anno Domini Gallery in San Jose (366 South First Street between San Salvador and San Carlos)
this coming Saturday night with a creative touring group from Porltand, yourdrugsmymoney.
We will be doing a collaborative set at the end of the night and there is talk of putting this out on yourdrugsmymoneys' record label if it comes out well.

Because I've been so into Power Noize, Noise and Industrial/EBMish stuff lately, my performance will reflect a lot of that
sensibility.

I'm so excited, I just purchase a Feedback eliminator which will allow me to use very heavy distortion with vocals and found objects
without having all the uncontrollable feedback problems that occur with live microphones.

I'll also be projecting my new lo fi, toy digital video animations that I"ve been making at the show.
Come on out to an unusual creative show in the South Bay if you don't have anything to do.

It's 5 bucks at the door (8 p.m. start) and noone will be turned away for lack of funds.

Ad Noiseam is proud to announce the release of the two following CDs:

- Horchata "Basidia" - adn36 CD

Both CDs are released and available now.

HORCHATA "Basidia"
From the most organic of atmospheric music to the deepest of basses and beats, "Basidia" is a tour de force for Horchata, displaying here the broad range of his talent. Here is an album which makes the head nod, tortures the subwoofer and still remain very beautiful. Ad Noiseam is proud to release Horchata's "Basidia" album, which showcases all the facets of Horchata's talent, and hopefully displays the high amount of thought put into these recordings.

WILT "As giants watch over us"
Ad Noiseam adn35 CD
Wilt's third album for Ad Noiseam, "a sonic declaration of political unrest", in which Wilt incorporates various elements and influences of today's electronic music into his drones and sound-layering. Varied, hi-fi and rewarding. Wilt's most accomplished album so far, "As giants watch over us" circles he listener in a deep and highly rewarding sound and looks definitely further ahead
1. Released today on Ad Noiseam:

LAPSED "Twilight" - adn34 CD
Lapsed is Jasons Stevens, offering with his debut album, "Twilight", both writing beautiful soundscapes and challenging your ears. "Twilight" is a new found confluent of sounds too often kept apart. Glitchy, precise and sharp in its beats, and yet thick in its tones. Qualified of "funktastic", "Twilight" puts the groove back in the click, and Lapsed builds new territories made of beats and bits with insolent talent. 13 tracks plus a remix by Displacer.

Hello,

The year 2003 is now gone for good, and as the first Ad Noiseam release of 2004 (Lapsed's "Twilight") is coming soon, it might be accurate to look back at what last year brought for the label. 2003 was a busy year, with 12 releases, a long tour, and Ad Noiseam's second birthday.

Here is therefore an account, release by release, of how Ad Noiseam evolved in 2003, and what it brought up. Feel free to comment.

January 2003:
adn21 - Cdatakill "Paradise" 2CD
adn22 - Cdatakill "Paradisi" 12"

2003 began for Ad Noiseam with a big release, Cdatakill's double CD album "Paradise", which was a bridge on several accounts. First, it somehow offered two distinct kind of music with which Ad Noiseam had been dealing in the past: the hard rhythms of its first CD and the dark atmospheres of the second. Then, it also united over one release two separate audiences, coming from the breakcore and industrial sides of things (however inaccurate these terms may be), as the first discovered the labels through Cdatakill, and the later this act because of this release. Finally, Cdatakill's "Paradise" was also the first release on Ad Noiseam to come both on CD and vinyl, a format that will appear more often in 2004. A major release, which was well received and started off nicely the year 2003.

April 2003:
adn23 - A. Kiritchenko "Kniga Skazok" CD
adn24 - Uniform "Not a word" CD
adn25 - Tarmvred & Iszoloscope "Do America" CD

Three releases coincided with the tour which brought Tarmvred on the roads of the USA in April 2003. A very important event (and one of the longest tours of this kind ever done), this proved to be a definitive success. Moreover, the support shown by the audience during this tour is something which was important for both Ad Noiseam and Tarmvred, as it proved that people do actually care about this band and this label. Thank you once again to everybody who came, said hi, or danced.
The two other CDs released for this tour, by Andrey Kiritchenko and 2nd Gen's side project Uniform belonged to a clearly different music style. It seems to me that Ad Noiseam is not a label to focus on one sound only, and it was important to show that, whichever release brought you to this label, it is important to keep your ears open. Andrey Kiritchenko's delicate and sharp poetic electronica, as well as Uniform's abstract sound sculptures are not something to dance to, but, I hope, are recognized as albums that are extremely satisfying to listen to with your brain. As people tend to often listen to club oriented, or home oriented music only, it feels necessary to present to each other the other side of things.

June 2003:
adn26 - Detritus "Endogenous" CD
adn28 - Larvae "Monster Music" CD ep

Back to the beats. The June releases, as different as they may sound at first, were both something that combine the taste of new electronic music displayed with the previous release and a beaty, clubby approach, demonstrating that the two can come together. First, it was the first Detritus album, quite a long time in the making, which somehow crowded this UK act with a first CD album following a lot of activity in the fields of remixes and compilation tracks. Surprising to a lot of people, it combined soulful compositions and hard beats, and underlined something that will probably never been said enough: music to dance to does not necessarily have to insult your brain. This is what, in my opinion, Detritus demonstrated with this CD.
And the same thing can be said with Larvae's first CD on Ad Noiseam, the hard hitting but tongue-in-cheek take of this act at the Godzilla cult, the "Monster Music" CD ep. This little CD has a particular historym, as it is both the fist material I heard from Larvae and something that was not planned to be released on Ad Noiseam, but had been scheduled to be shelved. Making some dance and other head nod, it was, I think, a good way to discover Larvae, an act which got an even broader exposure with their remarkable and remarked later album, "Fashion Victim".

October 2003:
adn29 - Larvae "Fashion Victim" CD
adn30 - Magwheels / Stone Glass Steel "Pane" CD
adn31 - Cordell Klier "Winter" CD
adn32 - Tarmvred "Viva6581" CD ep

October was the month during which Ad Noiseam invaded the shelves of CD stores "en masse". With four releases, this was the most productive moment of the label's life so far. Starting with Larvae's first CD album, which is probably one of the most discussed and praised releases on the label (and one of the most varied and thoroughfully produced of its releases), as will be proved again with this act's tour in April 2004, and then going for new releases by acts who had all had something on Ad Noiseam already.
The teaming up of Magwheels (a project which I can not recommend enough, and which I think is still very underrated) with the industrial veteran of Stone Glass Steel was not something one would have thought to as obvious, till one is to think that Stone Glass Steel's Phil Easter had already worked on the mastering of Magwheels's previous album, "Evebuildingbomb", and has several times expressed his taste for emotional guitar based music. It was therefore him who did collaborate with Maghweels on this release, and not the expected suspects (Stars Of The Lid or some Godspeed avatars). And in a way, the result, a very lush and human album, was a good counterpoint to Cordell Klier's second album, "Winter", in which Cordell went even further in its travel through sharp clicks and bleeps. Still, it seems that the combination of these precise elements with more accessible soundscapes and structures somehow seduced people who had been scared by his uncompromising first album ("Apparitions"), and brought new fans to this very productive, talented and hectic musician.
Finally, people braced for impact as Tarmvred's "Viva 6581" CD ep, his first release in solo since 2001's "Subfusc" was released. Surprising people who have not followed Tarmvred's various activities and live shows, this highly playful and well written CD stired controversy, with some people being seemlingly unable to go beyond hard noise and "dark" tracks (received this CD ep quite badly), and some other embracing Tarmvred's statement that music is not necessary done to weep to (which could be an Ad Noiseam one too) and included "Viva6581" in many a "top 10 of 2003" list. With the whole rhythmic noise genre running in circle with a frightful ability not to sort good from bad, here is a release which was very important for Tarmvred and Ad Noiseam, in my opinion, as it brought smiles and colour to a genre that desperatelly needs both.

December 2003:
adn33 - Crno Klank "Etat des lieux" CD

The December release batch consisted only of one release, the incisive and thick "Etat des lieux", first CD by the oldest project of the iconoclast and genre-crossing C-Drik. Enough noise to wreck your speakers and enough rhythms to make you shake your body, "Etat des lieux" (incidentally also the first release by a french speaking artist on Ad Noiseam) is a CD that, I think, brought back the noise in Ad Noiseam. An album which might be more accessible for people who like their music saturated and noisy, "Etat des lieux" is a remarkable album in the sense that, without embracing any of the newer genres that C-Drik has worked on lately (from ambient to hard breaks), it combines a bit of everything in a truely "industrial" sense, and all of this with an album that doesn't comply itself in cliches and which, in my opinion, brings something genuinely fresh to this sound.

So, 2003 was a busy year and a varied year. We got people head nod to heavy bass, dream of electronic fairytales, shakes their feet to staccato rhythms and 8 bit sounds, explore clicky and noisy environnement. What about 2004? Well, we'll see. It's all going to being with Lapsed's debut album, then with a tour (Larvae touring the USA) and two other CDs (by Wilt and Horchata). Then? Well, I can't tell yet, but a lot of very nice things are coming. Ok, in short, the three next releases:

adn34 - Lapsed "Twilight" CD
adn35 - Wilt "As giants watch over us" CD
adn36 - Horchata "Basiida" CD

Best regards and thank you to everybody for your support,

Electronic music in the mountains. It is in Salt Lake City, Utah, that Jason Stevens, the sole musician of Lapsed, patiently gave birth to "Twilight", his debut album. Twenty five year old and working since years in a music store, Stevens seems to have found one of the rare ways to come up with something fresh in his music, and not copy anyone: immerse himself in numerous hours of varied, genre-crossing music listening.

Free from pigeonholed influences and closed ears, Stevens's "Twilight" is a new found confluent of sounds too often kept apart. Glitchy, precise and sharp in its beats, and yet thick in its tones. Qualified of "funktastic", "Twilight" puts the groove back in the click, and Lapsed builds new territories made of beats and bits with insolent talent.

Striving (and succeeding) and mix both beautiful soundscapes and challenging your ears, Lapsed writes poetic tracks but never falls into kitsch, moves forward and yet is far more than joyless experimentation. Fresh and soulful, two words that well describe this "Twilight".
CRNO KLANK
"Etat des lieux"
adn33 CD
coming December 2003

Mp3s, info and pre-ordering now available at http://www.adnoiseam.net.

Being at the core of many projects (Ammo, Ambre, Axiome, Dead Hollywood Stars, Moonsanto...) and collaborations (with Mick Harris, Mark Spybey, Xingu Hill...), Holland-based C-drík comes back with “Etats des lieux” to his very first project, Crno Klank with a first CD album which presents across 11 tracks the vast array of material which has been written under this name.

Started in 1989, then paused in order to dedicate on other bands, Crno Klank was reborned a few years ago, as the electronic part of a performance collective featuring singers, african percussions and throat chants (and which for example was used for the “Les machines” performance, directed by Joël Splingard). Indeed, the tribal and raw aspect of this phase of Crno Klank is what made this project take the steps which led to “Etats des lieux”. “I got the idea of recording some ethno-industrial noise music, a mix between Korean, black African percussion and old school industrial and noise”, says C-Drík

What he now describes as “something cruder than my main projects, more simple maybe, a tribal modernism” sees the light of the day in a balance between scrapping noise, sharp compositions and a way of playing around with ethnic rhythms which goes far beyond sampling or copying. While the sound are definitely electronic, it is in their arrangements, in their patterns, that one will find the ethnic influences which are at the foundation of Crno Klank.

A decisive step for “Crno Klank”, the “Etats des lieux” CD was written with sampler, computer, zurna and metalpercussions, and is based on both recent material and old tracks, re-written for the album. “This is an introduction to a sort of tribal industrial, I'll go further for the next one.” concludes C-Drík. And seldom was an introduction so dense, standing alone as a complex work by itself.

Cordell Klier
"Winter"
Ad Noiseam adn31 CD

Cordell Klier's Winter is a ten-part ambient and glitch suite dedicated to the blissful emptiness and harrowing bleakness of the winter months. Winter is the second release for Klier under his own name (previously releases have come under the monikers of Kreptkrept, OF and Monstrare) and continues the clicks and cuts ambience of his first record on Ad Noiseam, Apparitions. In addition to making records in nearly every waking instant of his day, Klier also runs the Doctsect label. The man has his fingers everywhere and the cross-pollination of his efforts breathes its way into the ambient glitchery of Winter like tiny clouds of pollen trapped in the perpetual ice of these songs, lending them strange colors and textures.
"3" is a fragmenting glacier, a slow-moving structure which groans and heaves with its massive weight. Ice breaks up along the surface, shards of crystalline sound skittering across the dazzling surface. There are seismic tremors, abrupt beats of sudden movement within the mammoth ice field as things shift and shatter. Air which has been trapped in pockets for centuries is suddenly freed as the crevasses open across the face of the glacier and the exhaled wind from these pockets contains ghostly echoes from thousands of years ago. Klier builds mysterious environments from ambient drones, splintered IDM rhythms, squelchy fragmented melodies, and sudden expectorations of glitch noise.
Then -- suddenly and seemingly effortlessly -- six minutes have passed and we are in "4," the next movement of Klier's vision of winter where a tiny tone flutters against the inside of your speakers like a persistent wind blowing ice crystals against your goggles. Strange machinery fumes and clanks across the surface of a breach hole in the ice where thin monitors are being lowered into the water to capture the submerged song of ice-encrusted monsters of the deep arctic water. And, as we huddle over the instruments, a wind comes off the plains, scouring the loose snow and shifting the hillocks of ice so that all our landmarks are gone within the hour. This is the fifth movement of Winter, a song of wind and machinery that sounds as if someone were playing a slowed down version of an Aphex Twin track at the other end of a wind tunnel. "8" hints at radio transmissions and satellite signals, lost transmitters forever signaling from abandoned ice-covered stations. The wind caresses these places like you might pet a cat in an attempt to coax tiny sounds from the belly of the creature beneath your fingers.
The minute of silence at the beginning of the last movement is the purest simplicity of the cold world: the stark beauty of the white landscape and chill emptiness of the still winter air. The buzzing, hissing, clattering world of man can easily be reduced to a featureless white plain by a winter storm. We are warm-blooded creatures and the beauty and terror of winter confounds us. Cordell Klier lives in Minnesota near the 45th Parallel and, while he is only halfway up the side of the earth, Minnesota is a long way from the warm air coming off the oceans. All he gets is the jet stream howling down through Canada. Listening to Winter, you can imagine him huddled beside an ancient oil-driven heater writing love songs to accompany the arctic moan and wail of his icy mistress. Highly recommended.

Yes, it is. Extremely good. Very far from both the ambient stuff on Mille Plateaux and the meshed pop sampling of "The action packed mentallist brings you the fucking jams), it is also more friendly than "Down with the scene". There are a few very d'n'b pieces, quite a lot of raggacore influence (that Bug CD is definitely the most influential CD of the moment, it seems) and all in all really fun. At least somebody who a) doesn`t take himself too seriously, and b) writes music which is made to be enjoyed.

Meant to be an album that displays frustration with fashion and superficiality, Larvae’s debut full-length (following the recent Monster Music EP), breathes life into a rather decayed form of electronics. Displaying synaptic rhythms, surreal ambiences with a shadow of mystery, Fashion Victim rolls over the ears as a smooth if not essential album for 2003. Blending genres such as rugged hip-hop ("Tonystark" + “Refuse”) next to distorted melodies ("Crazyeye"), Larvae packs an impeccable punch in each composition leaving you stranded in an altered dimension. Tracks like “Unbranded” and “I Owe You” are rendered into the shape of drum’n bass with basslines that ripple across the spectrum like a swarm of killer bees chasing you in a dark and abandoned alley. Not forgetting the ambient nature of tracks like “Philistine” and “Kelvin (Genetic Mix),” Larvae incorporates derailed, stretched melodies next to a subtle backdrop of crisp percussion as it fades into the distance. “Redline Version,” perhaps one of the most intriguing tracks on Fashion Victim takes an energetic beat and ties it next to corrupted tweaks, bleeps and strange audio manipulations until it unfolds its collage of tricky noise upon the listener. Going beyond traditional classifications, Larvae has sculpted a 10-track album of infectious and rigorous sound-escapes that bends and twists throughout the 46-minutes of its existence; A satisfying listening experience that grabs the ears and shakes the feet.
